Mainly because I hate people who merely complain and complain and complain about things and after being given a concrete solution to their complaints they just basically shut up and not even bother to acknowledge the said solution to said complaint, here's quite possibly the only good thing that GMA did for the Philippines in the past five years or so, Executive Order 885, three pieces of paper stating that books imported from other countries to our shelves ARE MOST DEFINITELY EXEMPT FROM ANY TAX WHATSOEVER, and not just books but even MAPS AND MAGAZINES AND POSTERS AND PHOTOGRAPHS are exempt from any tax whatsoever - basically any printed matter one orders through the Net or wherever is exempt - surely ought to be a cause for celebration although strangely overlooked, and so here it is, in case you're reading this, HERE IT IS.

We here in Project Four suggest you print EO885 out and always bring it with you whenever claiming your books/maps/mags/posters/photos from the post office and/or DHL - apparently, DHL's been giving people shit about taxes as Customs has supposedly been giving them shit about it - and show this to the claims person if in case s/he starts giving you shit about book taxes: BOOKS ARE NO LONGER TAXED AS OF YESTERDAY 3RD OF JULY 2010. Please feel free to forward the information to any and all.
